Frequently asked questions about

Dog Photography Sessions in London

What if my dog doesn’t sit still?

You don’t need to worry about this at all! It is a professional photographer’s job to understand their camera enough to successfully work with a wiggly subject such as a dog! Also, I’ll make a lot of weird noises and that usually helps. I am well-versed in dog behaviour and will be able to walk you through all the ways we can make magic happen for us and your dog. Plus, the photos are even more amazing when they don’t sit!

MY DOG DOESN’T LIKE CAMERAS, CAN YOU STILL TAKE GOOD PHOTOS?

Absolutely! I have years of experience working with dogs of all temperaments, including those who may be a bit camera-shy. I use gentle, consent-based techniques to help your dog feel comfortable and relaxed during the session. My approach is always patient and respectful, ensuring that your dog’s comfort comes first. This allows me to capture their unique personality without forcing any poses or actions.

What if my dog can’t be let off the lead?

Most of the dogs I photograph are on lead in their images! I photograph a lot of dogs while they’re on the busy streets of London. Dog safety is always at the forefront of my work, and as such, dogs are kept on lead during urban sessions, so you needn’t worry about leashes getting in the way of any photo. At the shoot, I will show you how best to hold the leash to easily remove it during retouching.

What if my dog is nervous or reactive?

I am besties with quite a few reactive dogs. I have also done a course in canine reactivity, so rest assured it isn’t a problem if your dog doesn’t like everything! As we get to know each other at the start of your journey with me, you can tell me about your dogs triggers and we will find a location and time where they’ll be as comfortable as possible. No dog deserves to be left out.

How long does a typical session last?

A typical outdoor session lasts about 1-2 hours, depending on your dog’s energy levels and comfort. This gives us plenty of time to capture a variety of shots without making your dog feel rushed or overwhelmed. Studio sessions usually last up to an hour.

What if the weather is bad on the day?

We all know what London weather is like. As long as it’s dry, we’ll most likely be able to go ahead with a session, unless the cloud coverage takes away all my light! If the weather takes a turn for the worst, we can of course reschedule!

I’m worried that I can’t afford professional dog photography and I will be pressured to spend money.

I understand that investing in professional photography can seem daunting, but I believe in transparency in my pricing from the very beginning. My services are designed to provide you with high-quality, timeless images that capture your dog’s unique personality and spirit. I also offer various packages to suit different budgets and payment plans, so there’s an option for everyone. Think of it as an investment in memories that will last a lifetime. With me, I can promise there will never be any pressure at all.
